Jürgen Klopp has been speaking to the media ahead of the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid on Saturday evening.
The German discussed a range of topics in his typical bubbly mood, although he expressed a bit of frustration at one thing in particular.
What’s the story?
Well, the pitch at the Stade de France was only laid yesterday, which Klopp isn’t very happy about.
As quoted by Sky Sports, the 54-year-old said: “Usually when the pitch looks new, it’s good news. This is new since yesterday. Not the best news but we will do a normal session as planned.
“I saw the refs with their session. The ball drops normal. Somebody thought it would be a good idea to bring a new pitch the day before the game.”
Now, that doesn’t sound ideal, in truth.
We’re not exactly sure why those responsible couldn’t lay the turf down earlier than yesterday, but Liverpool will now just have to get on with it.
You can even see the joins where the turf has been laid, as there hasn’t been enough time for the roots to knit together.
A very strange decision by the Stade de France grounds staff, to say the least.
Of course, at the end of the day, the surface will be the same for both teams – if the pitch does chop up, then Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti aren’t exactly benefitting.
Liverpool vs Real Madrid could be a classic

If the pitch does survive, then tomorrow’s clash between the Reds and Los Blancos has the potential to be an all-time classic.
For one, just look at the names involved. Mohamed Salah. Karim Benzema. Sadio Mane. Vinicius. Thiago. Luka Modric. Virgil van Dijk. David Alaba. Alisson Becker. Thibaut Courtois.
There are so many superstars, and also two iconic tacticians in the dugout as Klopp and Ancelotti go head to head once again.

There is also a strong narrative to the game, as Liverpool will be looking for revenge after suffering defeat to Real Madrid in 2018’s Champions League final.
Salah is certainly seeking payback, to say the least.
Be sure not to miss tomorrow’s showpiece event, as it could be one for the ages.
