Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after Pep Guardiola paid them a compliment ahead of Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final.

Ahead of the Spaniard’s clash with Marcelo Bielsa on April 10th, the Manchester Evening News quote Guardiola as saying: “Leeds. Leeds is the worst opponent we can play between the Champions League. The worst.”

Now, that is either very lofty praise from the 50-year-old, or he’s playing mind games with Leeds and Bielsa.

Given his previous praiseworthy comments aimed at Bielsa, however, we’re going to assume he’s being genuinely complimentary here.

After all, Leeds gave his Manchester City side a very tough game at Elland Road back in October.

Rodrigo’s second-half equaliser earned Leeds a point after Raheem Sterling’s opener, in what was a hectic, fast paced affair.

Impressively, Leeds also had more possession with 52.1% of the ball.

That’s a fine achievement against any Guardiola side, who pride themselves on keeping the ball.

You might think that Guardiola is exaggerating, and playing a team like Chelsea, Liverpool or Leicester would be worse than facing Leeds.

However, even if City beat Leeds, it’s the energy they’ll have to use to do so.

Having a group of exhausted players is certainly not what the ex-Barcelona boss will want going into the second leg against Borussia Dortmund.

Let’s see how the Leeds fans on Twitter reacted to his comments…
