Carlton Palmer has blasted Sheffield Wednesday’s call to appoint ex-Watford coach Xisco Munoz as their new manager, as he suggested that Leeds United have made a better appointment.

After promotion to the Championship in the most dramatic of fashions, Sheffield Wednesday parted ways with Darren Moore in mysterious and questionable circumstances.

That caused a stir, with the owner, Dejphon Chansiri, coming under stick and even firing shots at Palmer himself when Xisco Munoz was officially unveiled as Wednesday’s new boss.

But whilst one side of Yorkshire went down that road, their relegated rivals opted to appoint Daniel Farke and Palmer posted on Twitter that Leeds United will ‘get promoted’, as a result.

The former England midfielder clearly isn’t happy with how things have unfolded since his former side returned to England’s second tier.

Whilst Farke’s CV is better than Munoz’s, it also needs to be remembered that it’s also better than Moore’s, nonetheless, this is what Palmer had to say.

“Did not expect anything else,” said Palmer to Munoz’s appointment.

“No manager worth his salt would work for Chansiri. Leeds get Daniel and will get promoted. Let’s see, I have an open mind, but certainly not convinced or surprised.”

Huge pressure in Yorkshire

Given the size of the clubs, both will be expected to challenge for those top-six spots next season, but more so Leeds.

They have Premier League quality players, or so they claim to be, in their squad.

Either way, a lot of money has been spent on it, they have a promotion-winning manager in their dugout, so anything less than earning promotion will be seen as a failure.
