Ally McCoist has reacted to suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur could appoint Feyenoord coach, Arne Slot, as their next manager.

The former Scotland striker admitted that he is ‘unsure’ about the 44-year-old, who has done an ‘exceptional’ job for Feyenoord, after they recently secured the Eredivisie title, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (23/05/23).

Tottenham sacked Antonio Conte back in March, so Daniel Levy has had a lot of time to bring someone in and Arne Slot’s name is seemingly high on his list – he is set for talks with Feyenoord amid these Spus rumours.

Manchester United dipped into the Dutch market last summer when they appointed Erik ten Hag, and so far, it has worked out for them.

One point is needed from their last two Premier League games and they will return to the Champions League for next season, added with their League Cup win against Newcastle United and a possible FA Cup win against treble-chasing, Manchester City.

All in all, that has been a pretty positive appointment and with more to come. Perhaps it’s an indication to Spurs that they should push for Slot, but McCoist raised his doubts.

“I am not sure,” said McCoist. “I don’t know an awful lot about him. He’s done very well. He has done exceptionally well at Feyenoord.

“You can’t pre-judge your manager, right? So, if he does come, then he should be given time.”

LEVY UNDER HUGE PRESSURE AT SPURS

There is already huge pressure on Daniel Levy’s shoulders, with the fans well and truly on his back – Jamie O’Hara hit out at the club’s chairman after their defeat to Brentford.

But, if he gets this next appointment wrong, then there is nowhere to hide.

Given the number of trophy-winning managers Spurs have had in their dugout, and they have all left empty-handed, then there are only so many times you can blame them and not yourself.
