Clinton Morrison was critical of Emerson Royal for ‘not being strong enough’ during Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

The former striker thinks Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore got the better of the Spurs defender during the game, as was proven by the home side’s second goal.

Following a cross from Adam Smith from the right channel, Moore took everything out that came between him and the ball, including Emerson Royal.

At that time, Antonio Conte would have been questioning why he made so many changes to his starting XI because his side were heading towards a third straight league defeat.

But, those coming off the bench, including stoppage-time winner Rodrigo Bentancur, changed the game on its head for Spurs to secure a pretty valuable three points.

More questions were asked about Emerson Royal’s defending, which isn’t the first time, as Morrison shared his thoughts on the player, as he told Sky Sports News (29/10/22 at 5:25 pm).

“Kieffer Moore was probably licking his lips thinking ‘I have got a chance here’ and he was outstanding,” said Morrison.

“When they made it 2-0, it was a great delivery from Adam Smith on the right-hand side. Davinson Sanchez’s body shape was all wrong and then Emerson Royal’s not strong enough at the back post.

“I know Moore’s bigger than him. But you have to compete.”

WHAT IS DJED SPENCE THINKING?

Tottenham signed the England U21 in the summer, but he has only managed a remarkable three minutes since that transfer from Middlesbrough.

Every time Conte has used him, Spence has come on in stoppage-time and he will be wondering what he needs to do in order to get game time ahead of Emerson.

It’s not like the £26 million Tottenham player (BBC Sport) is flying high, if anything, for a defensive-minded team, he is proving to be one of the weak points at the back.
