Speaking on his TikTok page, Jose Enrique has named his starting XI for Liverpool to face Tottenham, and there’s one notable absentee in his team.
Indeed, Diogo Jota is left out of Enrique’s XI after a lacklustre performance against Villarreal in midweek, and the Spaniard believes that the attacker’s form has fallen off in recent times.
Enrique says that Jota is not playing to the same level that he once was, and he’s called for the former Wolves man to wake up a bit and get back to his best before the end of the season.
What’s been said?
Enrique spoke about why he wouldn’t start Jota vs Spurs.
“Why no Jota? Just because I’ve not seen him at the same level as he was before. I believe he needs to wake up a bit on that, but definitely, we want to have him back before the end of the season, but this would be my best XI for Tottenham, let me know what you think, but with this I really think we can beat them,” Enrique said.

Harsh
Jota wasn’t at his best against Villarreal in midweek, but to say that his form has fallen off is rather harsh.
The Portuguese forward has three goals and two assists in his last six Premier League appearances and that’s despite the fact he’s only completed a full 90 minutes twice in that period.
Jota is still proving to be one of the best attackers in England, and the fact that leaving him out against Spurs is a logical option just goes to show how good Liverpool’s other attackers have been.
The reality is that Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are in better form, and while Jota has still been excellent, you need to be at an unbelievable level to start for this team every week.
