Tyrone Mings disagrees that Liverpool’s attack was just ‘too strong’ for Aston Villa during their 3-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side on Boxing Day, as he told Amazon Prime Sport.
The Villa centre-back thinks his team just conceded ‘poor’ goals against the Reds, as Unai Emery suffered his first defeat in the Premier League since replacing Steven Gerrard in the dugout.
Liverpool were 2-0 up in the first-half, but in truth, that didn’t tell the whole story because Ollie Watkins could have bagged a hat-trick inside 45 minutes himself.

The Midlands outfit did pull a goal back through Watkins himself just after the break, but once again, chance after chance was missed, and in the end, they were punished by a more ruthless team.
But, for Mings, when he was asked if it was just a case of Liverpool’s attack being ‘too strong’ for his side, he issued this response to that comment.
“Not really,” said Mings. “I think we conceded some poor goals. Listen, they are a fantastic team. But every team in this league, if you give them that amount of chances, then they are going to score at some point.
“It’s frustrating, but on our behalf, I don’t think it was a case of them being too strong for us. I just think we maybe should have defended better for the goals.”

LIVERPOOL SPICE UP THEIR ATTACK
Well, with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino all injured, Liverpool still managed to rock up to Villa Park and put three goals on the board, and with it, take maximum points.
But now they have spiced up their attack even further with news breaking overnight that PSV and Dutch forward, Cody Gakpo, has been added to their ranks.
Given Diaz’s setback, those in the Anfield boardroom were forced to put their foot on the accelerator and bring Gakpo in ahead of the winter transfer window opening.
And when everyone is fit, Klopp will have a serious set of attacking players on his hands – Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunz, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah.
