Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed to Football London that Dele Alli won’t be starting this evening.
Tottenham are due to take on Bournemouth later today, as they look to make it back to back victories.
However, Spurs will have to make do without Alli again, as the England international is still nursing a hamstring complaint.
“Small, but not ready for tomorrow,” Mourinho said, when asked about Alli’s injury.
“We know that he had a little sad history about hamstrings last season I think, so it’s to be careful and not risk when you know that he has a little problem there. So tomorrow out.”
Alli’s absence is a blow to Spurs as it limits their attacking midfield options, but there are no guarantees he would have started even if he was fit.
Alli was withdrawn early against West Ham United and only used as a substitute against Sheffield United recently, before he picked up his injury.
The 24-year-old has suffered a dip in form of late, and has scored just one in his last seven appearances for Tottenham.
If Spurs can beat Bournemouth this evening they will move up to seventh and keep their slim hopes of qualifying for the Champions League alive.
