Martin Keown said on BT Sport 2 (10pm, November 5, 2020) that Arsenal winger Willian is not at the level he was when he was at Chelsea.
The Arsenal legend made the comment about Willian following the Brazil international’s performance for Mikel Arteta’s side against Molde in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The 32-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder and joined Arsenal in the summer of 2020 on a free transfer following his departure from Chelsea, started the match and played for 64 minutes, when he was replaced by Bukayo Saka.
Keown said about Willian on BT Sport 2 (10pm, November 5, 2020): “Willian is coming back. You could see he’s not quite at the level maybe at Chelsea.”
The Arsenal legend added about Saka: “Saka coming off the bench, always wanted to stretch the opposition.”
How did Willian play against Molde?
Willian was not at his best against Molde, as the Brazilian could not influence the match much and should have done better with set pieces.
According to WhoScored, the former Chelsea star played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 82.9%, took 48 touches, attempted one dribble, and put in eight crosses.
The attacking player has not been exactly great for Arsenal since his move in the summer of 2020 and has had injury problems as well, but there is no doubt over his quality.
Perhaps in the coming weeks, Willian will get to the kind of form he showed at Chelsea.
According to WhoScored, the winger has played six times in the Premier League and twice in the Europa League for Arsenal so far this season.
