‘Not one bit’: Sky pundit shares what he noticed about Bielsa during Leeds defeat

Lee Hendrie has made it clear that Marcelo Bielsa didn’t look happy ‘not one bit’ during Leeds United’s EFL Cup exit against Hull City last night.

The former midfielder told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (16/09/20 at 9:25 pm) that Bielsa was ‘huffing and puffing’ on the sidelines because of how poorly his team were playing.

Even though Ezgjan Alioski scored in stoppage-time of normal time to send the game to penalties, the Premier League side eventually found themselves getting dumped out 9-8 on spot-kicks to the League One club.

Whilst providing analysis for the game for Sky Sports, Hendrie shared what he noticed about the Leeds man as the game edged closer to full-time.

“I have just seen Bielsa on the sidelines and it’s a picture,” Hendrie told Sky Sports. “He’s certainly not happy. Not one bit.

“He is huffing and puffing. Waving his hands because Leeds simply haven’t been good enough. They cannot string four, five passes together like we know they can do.

“And I think that’s serious frustration from the manager on the side.”

There’s no doubt that this will be a difficult defeat to take for Leeds because they could have used the current momentum they have to push for a cup run.

Bielsa did make a number of changes to his starting XI, so there was some disruption in that sense, but the team that was put out should have performed better against a team now sitting in the third tier.

Leeds now have to focus their minds back to Premier League matters because they take on fellow promoted side Fulham where both teams will be looking to put their first points on the board.
