Marcelo Bielsa has told Leeds Live that Pablo Hernandez won’t be fit enough to feature for Leeds United against Cardiff City.

Hernandez has picked up a knock which is set to keep him out of Leeds return to action, in what is a blow to the Whites.

Bielsa also has suggested that Jean Kevin Augustin may need to work on his fitness before he is ready to start, while Adam Forshaw is also still sidelined.

“Pablo is returning to the training next Wednesday. Forshaw is completing his recovery process,” Bielsa said.

“And Augustin is not injured from April, but he is doing individual work.

“Pablo is not for the match on Sunday, but Kevin Augustin is doing individual work. We think [it] is necessary he does this.”

Hernandez’s absence is a blow to Leeds as he is their most creative midfielder.

The Spaniard brings experience and skill to Leeds’ side when fit, and Bielsa will surely want to get the former Swansea City man back into his starting line-up before the campaign finishes.

Leeds are in a strong position to go on and achieve promotion, but will want to ensure they beat Cardiff to ensure that doubts don’t creep in.

Leeds are currently seven points clear of third, with nine games left to play this season.
