Alexandre Lacazette has admitted his ‘unhappiness’ over playing second fiddle for Arsenal at times this season.

The French hitman, who earns £180,000 per week, hasn’t always been a first-team regular since Mikel Arteta took over from Unai Emery in December.

Lacazette has managed 29 Premier League appearances this season, but eight of those were cameo appearances off the bench.

The 29-year-old has been starting much more regularly in recent weeks, and scored a worldie in the defeat at Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.

But the former Lyon marksman, who has been linked with a move away from North London, concedes that ‘it is not nice to be on the bench’.

He told Canal Plus via GFFN: “It is not nice to be on the bench. At the same time, in my life I have had moments that were a lot more complicated and I did not doubt myself. It wasn’t really doubt, it was more unhappiness, like every player who is on the bench and wants to play.”

This could be a pretty clear indication that Lacazette won’t be staying at Arsenal unless he’s given first-team assurances.

Thing is, Arteta can’t guarantee that he’s going to start every single game next season.

The Spaniard picks his team based on training and their attitude in training, and if Eddie Nketiah shines more at London Colney than the France international then he’s going to play.
