Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that striker Darwin Nunez needs to improve defensively.
Klopp is pleased with how Nunez is on the attack and is happy to have the striker in his Liverpool team.
However, the Liverpool boss believes that 23-year-old £120,000-a-week (The Daily Mail) striker needs to get better defensively.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Darwin Nunez
Klopp said about Nunez: “Robbo is obviously used to [it], he played for a long time with Sadio Mane on that wing and then Luis [Diaz] – cover that space, pretty much. It’s different, very different.
“And now Darwin is different as well. In this game he was together with Thiago and Robbo and Darwin. Yes, we know that Darwin can be a real threat offensively. He is actually.
“Defensively, for sure, there is space for improvement because it is not natural to him to defend that position.”

Improving
Darwin Nunez is an out-and-out striker, and like most in his position, the Liverpool star is not naturally someone who will defend.
That is fine.
It is nothing to be too concerned about right now.
Nunez is young enough to learn that side of the game and add that facet.
Liverpool play with a high press, and defending from the front is key to that style.
Nunez will learn that in due time and will become a master of it.
There is no doubt about that.
The Uruguay international striker joined Liverpool from Benfica in the summer transfer window.
Nunez has made six substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season.
The Liverpool no. 27 has scored three goals and provided two assists in those games.
The 23-year-old has also scored three goals in six UEFA Champions League games for the Reds so far this campaign.
