Jeff Stelling told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (06/03/21 at 2:30 pm) that he is ‘not meant to be insulting’ when he claimed that Everton will ‘sit back’ against Chelsea today.

It is a huge top-four clash at Stamford Bridge, with Carlo Ancelotti hoping his Everton side can end Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten start to life in the Premier League.

In previous big games, such as the Merseyside derby against Liverpool, that thrilling draw against Manchester United, the Toffees have stamped their authority in those matches.

And popular Sky host Stelling praised Everton’s strike partnership up top, but thinks Everton will be ‘sitting back’ in a few hours time and absorbing the pressure.

“You talk about sides sitting back I think Everton are going to sit back there is no question about that,” said Stelling.

“Look I mentioned Everton, and the fact that they are going to sit deep, and that was not meant to be insulting at all. (But) it’s the return of Carlo Ancelotti to Stamford Bridge.

“They have a strike force at the moment of Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, who has four in four, it must be right up there in terms of attacking partnerships in the Premier League.”

If Everton can secure all three points here then it will send out a serious message to their top-four rivals and the rest of the Premier League.

Ancelotti has worked wonders ever since he stepped foot into Goodison Park, as the Toffees are closing in on, at the very least, a Europa League finish.

What’s even more amazing is that they can finish above their neighbours and the current struggling Premier League champions, Liverpool.
