Glenn Hoddle spoke highly of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on BT Sport 2 (9:17pm, November 26, 2020).

The former Tottenham star raved about Hojbjerg’s leadership qualities, and said that players like the former Southampton star are not common.

Hoddle said that the 25-year-old Denmark international midfielder has done well for Spurs since joining them from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2020.

The Englishman made the comments while co-commentating on the Europa League game between Tottenham and Ludogorets Razgrad at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday evening.

Hoddle said about Hojbjerg on BT Sport 2 (9:17pm, November 26, 2020) when he was preparing to come on in the 60th minute: “I think he has done excellent since he has been at Spurs, I really do. He has got a bit of everything. He sits in that deep position, but he leads as well.

“He is a genuine leader, there’s not many in the game. But he is the one that will actually have a go at players and tell them what to do even if he is not playing well himself.”

Making an immediate impact

Hojbjerg has established himself as a key figure at Tottenham already and has made an immediate impact at the North London club.

According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old has provided one assist in nine Premier League matches and has made one start and three substitute appearances in the Europa League for Jose Mourinho’s side.

For Tottenham to have a successful season in 2020-21 and win the Premier League title, Hojbjerg will have to maintain his current high level in the coming weeks and months and perhaps even do better in the middle of the park.
