If there was a negative in Leeds United’s win over Manchester City, it was a potential injury for Raphinha after being challenged by Fernandinho.
Ten-man Leeds stunned the would-be Premier League champions with a 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Raphinha, who has been a revelation for the Whites this season, was substituted minutes before Stuart Dallas’s injury-time winner following a tackle by the Manchester City midfielder, who cynically brought down his fellow Brazilian.
The 24-year-old looked furious as he trudged off the field and Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said it did not look to him to be a serious injury.
But Raphinha has uploaded a photo of his heavily-bandaged leg on Instagram along with ‘Seguimos’ – ‘we continue’.
And here’s how some Leeds fan responded to the photo on Twitter last night:
Some Leeds fans were earlier aggrieved over the decision to issue Liam Cooper a red card following his challenge on Gabriel Jesus just before the half-time whistle, so for Fernandinho to get off scot-free would always irk supporters of the West Yorkshire club.
The good news is that, as mentioned, Bielsa claimed he did not think the injury was hugely serious and hopefully for United’s sake that is the case.
