Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to rumours that Everton are close to appointing Frank Lampard as their manager.
The Guardian report that the Chelsea legend has formally been offered the Everton job and they hope to get things concluded by Sunday.
If Lampard does indeed replace Rafa Benitez, then it could have an impact on those in the North East for many different reasons.
First of all, Newcastle face off against the Toffees after the winter break in a game that could see the Magpies drag Everton into a relegation battle.
If that’s the case, then Lampard will have one hell of a task on his hands because his possible new side have been dropping for a number of months now.
But, before all that, if the former England midfielder is signed up before transfer deadline day, then he may steer the direction of certain Newcastle targets towards Merseyside.
Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek are set to be some of the talking points during these final hours of the transfer window.
And it’s anyone’s guess as to whether they end up at Newcastle, Everton or warming the bench at Old Trafford.
Either way, that first fixture back from the international break is going to be a humdinger and one where both teams could have momentum strapped to their boots.
Eddie Howe’s side would be confident after their win at Leeds last time out and possible new signings making their new debuts.
Whilst Everton will be hoping for a new manager bounce and also new signings trying to make an impact.
