Roy Keane told Super Sunday on Sky Sports (07/02/21 at 1:15 pm) that Liverpool quartet James Milner, Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi and Caoimhin Kelleher wouldn’t get into either Manchester City, Manchester United or Leicester City’s team.
The outspoken pundit shared that the above players aren’t good enough for Liverpool, as he slated the back-up options Jurgen Klopp has to choose from.
After going 68 Premier League games unbeaten at Anfield, Liverpool have now lost three matches on the bounce on home soil and the current champions are in an unfamiliar rut.
When talking about Liverpool’s squad, Keane was pulling no punches when slamming what Klopp has at his disposal.
“Whatever about the two centre-halves, the other parts of the team, the midfield and going forward. Their back-up players haven’t been good enough,” said Keane.
“A lot of players, who have been involved with Liverpool, I suppose their game against Brighton, where Brighton were the better team.
“And I am on about the Milner’s of this world, the Shaqiri’s, Origi and Kelleher, okay, he’s a young keeper coming through.
“But these boys wouldn’t get into the Man City team, the Man United team or even the Leicester team. And these are the back-up players that haven’t shown to be good enough.
“So, whatever about the two centre-halves, which has been a big problem, other parts of the team haven’t been up to it.”
It will be interesting to see what changes Klopp makes to his team as they take on Leicester City at the weekend.
Many supporters will be looking towards their two new centre-backs and whether or not they will be brought into the fold.
If they aren’t then questions will be asked as to what’s the point in buying them if they are not going to be used.
