Paul Merson has claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham duo Cedric and Japhet Tanganga are ‘not good enough’, as he told 90 min

The outspoken TV pundit was trying to pick between the Arsenal and Tottenham pair ahead of the North London derby.

Spurs are set to make the short trip across London on Sunday, when they lock horns with their bitter rivals, in what is set to be a tasty, action-packed and goal-fest affair.

Whilst Cedric will, more than likely, be on the bench for the weekend showdown.

Tottenham’s academy product should get the nod at right-back.

But whilst Merson ‘just’ picked Tanganga ahead of Cedric, he did make reference to the time Adama Traore turned him inside out at Molineux this season.

“I think both aren’t good enough,” said Merson. “They were still untangling him (Tanganga) from when Traore had a go at him, the other week.

“Cedric going forward is decent. He is better going forward. But I need defenders at Arsenal, at the moment. Not people who are bombing forward.

“I would just go Tanganga, just. But just is enough, isn’t it?!”

If Tanganga does indeed start at the Emirates then he might just be tasked with having to deal with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

A very different player to Traore, more of a goal threat and his biggest strengths are without the ball and the attacking runs he makes.

Whatever happens, you don’t want to be losing your battle out on that pitch because it won’t make you popular with the supporters.

Given that both teams defences have come under-fire already this season and the North London derby likes to produce goals.

Then expect a classic, mouthwatering and edge-of-your-seat goalless draw.
