The Juventus legend doesn’t believe that Tottenham Hotspur are good enough to win the Champions League.

Laureus World Sports Academy member Alessandro Del Piero speaks in the Winners Photocall at the Messe Berlin on April 18, 2016 in Berlin, Germany.

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero spoke to reporters about his former side’s chances of progressing through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and insisted that Tottenham are not good enough to win the competition, as quoted by Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.

Spurs produced a fantastic comeback in Turin two weeks ago, earning a hard-fought 2-2 draw with the Italian champions, leaving their tie with Juventus finely poised ahead of the second leg clash at Wembley next Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have really risen to the fore over the past couple of years, and are now widely considered to be one of the best young sides on the continent.

They still have not won a major trophy under the guidance of the Argentine, however, and that is something that has to change sooner rather than later.

Del Piero, who scored 290 goals for the Old Lady, expressed his confidence in his former side’s ability to turn the tables on Spurs at Wembley next week, as quoted by Calcio Mercato:

“I believe Juve can replicate the first 10 minutes of the opening leg. Wembley is a fantastic stadium the atmosphere will be crazy. Juventus must be light hearted and be without mercy, like they did at the beginning of the first game. I think they didn’t expect such a strong comeback by Tottenham but Juventus can win in London. It will be disappointing for Juve to be eliminated by Tottenham, a team that will not win the Champions League. That’s one of the reasons why I think Juve will qualify.”

Both Juventus and Tottenham are in fine form domestically, with neither side losing a game of any description since December, so Wednesday’s match should be another close encounter, and one that is far too tough to call.
