Everton have been banned from signing academy players for two years.
Everton boss Marco Silva addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s trip to Chelsea on Sunday, and responded to questions in the wake of his club receiving a two-year ban from signing academy players, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
The Telegraph reported yesterday that the Toffees were handed a two-year ban from signing academy players, as well as having to pay a £500,000 fine for tapping up youngsters.
Manchester City and Liverpool have reportedly suffered the same fate as the Blues.
Silva spoke to reporters from his side’s Finch Farm training base today, and admitted that the ban received by Everton is not a good thing, although he did suggest that it would not affect his work at Goodison Park, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:
“It is not a good thing. I think the club work with the Premier League and everything is solved now. Our CEO did hard work in this situation to solve anything. It will not happen in the future of our club. Now everything is finished, to be honest, it’s not something that will affect us in our day here. Our aim is to improve day-by-day our team and prepare for the next game.”
Everton can, of course, still sign senior players, so as Silva said, the ban will surely not affect his time at Goodison park, unless he stays in charge for at least another five years.
