The Hoops ace has come out of Scotland retirement once in his career but has been focusing on giving his all to the Parkhead side.
Celtic captain Scott Brown has given his thoughts on whether he would ever come out of retirement for Scotland once again.
Alex McLeish’s side had an international break to forget last time out, falling to an embarrassing 3-0 defeat away in Kazakhstan in their opening European Championships qualifier.
Scotland then followed that up with a 2-0 win against San Marino, the lowest ranked side in international football, all of which suggests that the home nation could do with some help.
Brown was persuaded by former Scotland boss Gordon Strachan to reverse his original retirement decision after just two months in October 2016.
However, this time round, the midfielder made it clear that he would not look to come back into the Tartan Army fold for a second time, and spoke of enjoying downtime during the break.
“I was in Dublin playing golf during the international break, it was lovely – I’m not going to lie,” he told Sky Sports News. “It was good for me to get some time to relax and take some time away from football. I made the decision to retire to prolong my Celtic career and I still stick by that.
Laughing in conversation with the outlet, the 33-year-old added: “I’m not coming out of retirement again. I’ve done it once… it’s always hard. I just wish Scotland all the best. I’m not there now and I would never say a bad word about any of the lads or the management staff. Here’s hoping they can qualify.”
Brown made his debut for Scotland in 2005 and has won 55 caps with the nation, his last one coming against Malta in September 2017, according to Transfermarkt.
For Celtic, he has made 42 appearances this season, and 507 in total, scoring 40 goals and registering 59 assists.
