Speaking on The Overlap, Gary Neville has been discussing Antonio Conte’s managerial future amid rumours he’ll be leaving Spurs at the end of the season.
The Italian is constantly being linked away from Spurs, and it’s been reported that he’s already looking at an exit strategy for the end of this campaign.
However, according to Neville, Conte should stay at Tottenham.
Indeed, the pundit says that Conte actually couldn’t do better than Spurs at this moment in time, claiming that he wouldn’t get a move to any of Europe or England’s biggest clubs right now.
Conte should stay
Neville gave his view on Conte.
“Where is Antonio Conte going to go at this moment in time where he hasn’t been before? I think Tottenham can stand strong with the players they’ve signed and the position they’re in. I don’t think Conte can go to a better club in Europe. He’s not going to Barcelona, he’s not going to Real Madrid, he’s not going to Bayern Munich, he’s not going to any other club in England, he’s not going to United or Liverpool. I think he’s at the best club he can be at,” Neville said.
Stock is low
Conte may be one of the world’s best managers, but his stock is the lowest it’s been for quite some time.
He’s getting a reputation for being disloyal, and, if we’re being honest, results at Spurs haven’t been brilliant in recent months.
Europe’s elite probably wouldn’t go for him right away if he left Tottenham, and he may have to settle for a second-rate job if he is to look elsewhere.
Neville may be right, Conte can’t do much better than Spurs at this moment in time.
