Ian Wright has written off Mesut Ozil’s chances of breaking back into Arsenal’s team again on SuperSport, during their live Premier League coverage.

Ozil has been left out of Arsenal’s Premier League squad, which means that he will not play again until January at the very earliest.

Wright doesn’t feel that Ozil will be able to force his way back into the team, even at that stage though.

And the former Arsenal forward insists that supporters must not let the issue divide them now, and stop them backing Arteta.

“You have to admire the manager sticking by his guns,” he insisted. “For whatever reason he doesn’t want play Mesut, it’s a shame because he’s a quality player.

“This is the thing with Arsenal fans, they don’t have to say ‘right I’m not having you because you’re not having him’ or ‘I’m not having Mesut’.

“Sometimes it just happens like that. For Mesut, who wants to play football, it’s not going to happen for him here. But Arsenal fans have to concentrate on the team and the progression”

In truth, the writing has been on the wall for Ozil at Arsenal for some time now.

Ozil has not appeared for the Gunners since the Premier League restarted after lockdown and if Arsenal had received any offers for him over the summer they would surely have accepted.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Ozil is on a huge wage, and most his potential suitors just cannot afford to match his current contract.

It means that Ozil is most likely to leave the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer at the end of the season, and it already looks like he has played his last game for the North London side.
