‘Not going to be here’: Sherwood says Tottenham player will question Conte’s contract

Tim Sherwood has claimed that Harry Kane will be questioning the contract Antonio Conte has signed at Tottenham, as he told Premier League Daily. 

The former Spurs boss suggested that Kane will be questioning the ‘long-term’ view of Conte by saying ‘you’re not going to be here in 18-months’, in regards to them trying to win the Premier League title.

Conte has signed an 18-month contract in North London and he can add an extra 12 months if they exercise that option.

There were well-documented rumours in the summer about Kane wanting to leave Spurs, but despite all the drama surrounding when he should or shouldn’t have turned up for training, he stayed put.

Nuno Espirito Santo was in the dugout in the summer, and even though he has been replaced by Conte, Sherwood still thinks Kane wants to leave.

“Harry wants to leave, not because of Antonio Conte, not because of Jose Mourinho,” said Sherwood. “Not because of Nuno, but because he doesn’t think the club can win.

“Just one player isn’t going to make them win. Antonio might think ‘you don’t want to play for me son’. If I am Harry Kane, then I am saying ‘you only signed an 18-month contract’. 

“’Are we going to win and I mean win the Premier League?’ Because that’s what Harry Kane wants to do. That’s what he wants to leave the football club to go to Manchester City. He wants to win the Premier League.

“’Are we going to do that in 18 months? You are not going to be here in 18 months’, so I will ask him the question. ‘Where is your long-term view of the football club when you are signing for 18 months?’

“’I have been here. I have been here for a lot of years and paid good service to the football club. Do you not think it’s right for me to leave?’ I would ask him the question.”

Well, it seems as though Manchester City are still going to be knocking on Tottenham’s door for Kane in January, according to ESPN. 

Conte has proven in the past that if you are not with him, then he will boot you out regardless of who you are.

And Kane might find that will happen with him, during the winter transfer window, if he shows any signs of wanting to leave. 

If that does happen, then it will just beg the question as to why Spurs didn’t get rid of him in the summer because this has been a problem scenario for all.
