Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that both Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele will miss tonight’s game with Newcastle United.

Tottenham are due to take on Newcastle later, and they could be without the midfield pair due to injury.

Mourinho confirmed to Football London that Ndombele picked up an injury in training earlier this week, with the Frenchman now struggling for fitness.

“Yesterday in training Ndombele injured. I don’t think he will be selected but we have another training session,” Mourinho said.

The Spurs boss also said in the London Evening Standard that Alli is still struggling with a persistent hamstring issues, which have kept him out for weeks now.

“I have no information that Dele needs anything surgical,” he said. “This time it was minor. That’s why I think if not for this match, then maybe for the next or the last one he can be ready. So, it’s nothing major, but an area where he had problems, where he has a history. We need to try to take control of it, which we’re doing.”

Ndombele’s and Alli’s injury have to be considered a concern for them both.

The pair have both suffered injury hit campaigns at Tottenham and now have a point to prove.

Ndombele has barely featured under Mourinho so far, with doubts continuing to grow over his future.

Alli, meanwhile, has lost form since a hugely bright start under Mourinho’s stewardship – and now could well have lost his place in Tottenham’s starting line-up.

If Spurs can beat Newcastle later they could strengthen their bid for a spot in next season’s Europa League.
