Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after some 38-second footage emerged of Steve Bruce explaining his clash with Matt Ritchie.

The Magpies boss said that the Scotland international apologised to him in front of club staff as well as his teammates, and the incident has now been forgotten.

Bruce also claimed that things like this happen on a regular basis, but on this occasion, it just happened to be leaked to the press.

The 60-year-old added that it was unfortunate to see the incident ‘regurgitated’ in a national newspaper.

While there can be some shred of comfort to take in the fact that there was at least some closure to the incident, there have been more worrying reports.

The Magpies face a crucial relegation six-pointer against West Brom on Sunday, but haven’t trained on three of the five days since the 1-1 draw against Wolves.
