Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has claimed that there’s a lot more to come from Thiago Alcantara at Liverpool.

The Spaniard has endured something of a difficult debut season in the Premier League, and while he hasn’t been brilliant for the Reds, Klopp maintains that he’s a world-class player who we haven’t seen the best of yet.

The German said that Thiago isn’t even halfway there when it comes to fulfilling his potential at Anfield.

“Thiago is a world class football player, but he came, again, from a pandemic after the lockdown in Germany and he had to play the Bundesliga and had to play in the Champions League final with Bayern, had only a little break when he came here, got injured and had restart again with a team that was not settled, that’s massive, that’s almost impossible,” Klopp said.

“Now things look more settled, that’s clear with some results going in our direction, which helps as well, and it looks different and better. But we’re not even halfway there, Thiago is not even halfway there, the team is not halfway there, so we’ll keep going and improving.”

The fact that Klopp believes there is more to come from Thiago is incredibly exciting.

The German is an incredible judge of a player’s talent, and we all know that Thiago is a world-class talent when he’s at his best.

Of course, whether or not he can unlock that potential at Anfield remains to be seen, but if Klopp is right, it may just be a matter of time before we see him at his best.
