Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed to Football London that Ben Davies definitely won’t be playing against Everton this evening.
Doherty and Davies both are nursing injury problems going into the game, and the pair haven’t recovered in time to feature for Tottenham.
The good news is that Doherty does now at least appear to be on the mend.
However, Tottenham could still be without Davies for some time according to Mourinho’s update.
“It’s risky to say. Matt Doherty did the warm-up with us. He did the warm-up with the group and then went to sports science for individual work. So he’s not ready for tomorrow, but he’s coming,” Mourinho said.
“Ben Davies not even close to that. I would say that after 51 matches or so in the last couple of months to arrive in this sort of situation with only two injured that we cannot complain because the work has been good and the squad as a whole is in a good situation.”

Whether Doherty or Davies would have started if they were fit is up for debate.
Serge Aurier hardly convinced at right-back in Tottenham’s last game, but he has still been more reliable than Doherty this term.
Davies, meanwhile, is a favourite of Mourinho – who has praised his reliability before.
But with Sergio Reguilon in the team, the Welshman is only ever likely to play a back-up role at Tottenham.
