As a manager Marcelo Bielsa might’ve encountered massive problems in recent weeks, culminating in his dismissal by Leeds United on Sunday.
But as a man, the 66-year-old is utter class.
The Argentine left West Yorkshire on Tuesday after being sacked by Leeds this past weekend.
However, Bielsa voluntarily posed for photographs with Whites supporters and signed a number of autographs prior to going.
Even at his lowest point, the fact that the veteran manager continues to make time for the fanbase is testament to his humility.
Here’s how Charlie Austin reacted to the footage on Twitter of Bielsa interacting with supporters.
Austin added that the Leeds team Bielsa inherited in 2018 was ‘bang average’ – and he’s absolutely right.
Under Paul Heckingbottom, United finished 13th in the Championship.
So to win the title two years later without breaking sweat, sealing their return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence, well that’s why Bielsa will forever be remembered fondly among fans of the Elland Road outfit.
Despite being a newly-promoted club too, Bielsa led them to a ninth-placed finish in the top flight last season.
This time around, however, has been a different story.
With Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper missing most of the campaign, Leeds, who are only two points above the relegation zone, have struggled in a major way and Andrea Radrizzani took the decision to part company with the South American following a 4-0 defeat by Tottenham on Saturday.
