Southampton forward Theo Walcott has praised Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli on talkSPORT (9:07am, November 15, 2022) for his performances this season and is impressed that the Gunners ace will play for Brazil at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
Walcott, a former Arsenal player, has said that Martinelli should be given credit for getting into the Brazil squad for the World Cup.
The 21-year-old Arsenal forward has been superb so far this season and was picked for the former world champions ahead of Liverpool star Roberto Firmino.
Martinelli has scored five goals and given two assists in 14 Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season.
The Arsenal no. 11 has also made three starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this campaign.

Walcott said: “Martinelli, with whom I have been impressed him from day one. He had a big injury when he first came, but he has obviously got into that Brazilian squad, and that is not easy. So you have got to give credit to him.”
Huge talent
In our view, Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli is one of the best young talents in the world and is a hugely exciting player.
The 21-year-old has made himself a regular in the Arsenal team now and is doing well on the left of a front-three.
Now, given how potent Brazil are in attack and the number of quality players they have up front, Martinelli is unlikely to start regularly for his national side in Qatar.
However, rest assured that when Martinelli is called into action, he will turn on the style for Brazil.
Just like he does for Arsenal.
