Emilio Izaguirre says that he is happy at Celtic.
Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre has suggested to The Scottish Sun that he will stay at the club.
Izaguirre has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2010 and has a contract with the Bhoys until June 2017, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The 30-year-old left-back has said that he is happy at the Scottish Premiership club.
The Honduras international has also stated that his agent is negotiating with Celtic regarding a new contract.
“The issue of a new contract is not down to me — my agent is negotiating with Celtic,” Izaguirre told The Scottish Sun.
“Celtic have treated me so well and have always helped me. I have been there for seven seasons now and my family have always been very impressed with the support Celtic have given me.”
Izaguirre lost his place in the Celtic starting lineup to Kieran Tierney, but the Scotland international left-back’s injury means that the Honduras international defender is back in the frame.
The former Motagua defender is a decent player, and it would make sense for Celtic to hand him a new deal and keep him happy until the end of the season at least.
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 31 points from 11 matches. The Bhoys are 10 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and have a game in hand.
