Ivan Toney has stated that Liverpool’s analyst is ‘not doing his job properly’ if he thinks he is 5ft 11, as he told talkSPORT (27/09/21 at 8:40 am).
Liverpool recorded a 3-3 draw against Brentford over the weekend, with Toney putting on an impressive display, despite not scoring.
Given his fine start to the season, there is no doubt that Liverpool would have done a lot of research and work into the player.
After the game, the hard-hitting striker could be seen having a conversation with Jurgen Klopp and talkSPORT host, Laura Woods, knew what they were talking about – the player’s height.
Both Klopp and Toney were joking with one another about how they thought he was 5ft 10, when he clearly isn’t, and how their analyst thought he was.
But the eagle-eyed talkSPORT and Sky presenter thinks going on Google was the way the Reds found about Toney’s height, and this is what he had to say about it all.
“After the game, I saw you having a chat with Jurgen Klopp,” said Woods. “I asked what he said to you, and it was kind of a quick moment and you were laughing at each other.
“And he said to you that his analyst said that ‘you were 5ft 11’, didn’t they?”
Toney responded: “Yeh, he didn’t know I was this tall.”
Woods then added: “When you stick your name in Google, it says ‘Ivan Toney 5ft 11’, so when he says my analyst found out that you are 5ft 11, he has just gone on Wikipedia.”
Toney then responded: “He’s clearly not doing his job properly then.”

If Toney wanted to put his name on the map, well he did just that against the Reds over the weekend and people would have taken notice of his performance.
He was outstanding up against Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, both in terms of winning his aerial duels, bringing the ball down and getting his team playing, then being clever with his off-the-ball movement.
An England call is probably premature, at this moment in time, but if he continues in his current ways then there’s no reason why the ex-Newcastle man can’t be heading to St George’s Park one day.
But Gareth Southgate has picked inexperienced before, he did so with Kalvin Phillips before he could even make his first Premier League appearance.
