Bruno Guimaraes has stated on Twitter that Liverpool’s dramatic victory over Newcastle United on Wednesday night was simply ‘not deserved’.

Jurgen Klopp’s side continue to recover from their difficult start to the Premier League campaign by beating the Magpies 2-1 at Anfield last night.

Fabio Carvalho netted an 98th-minute winner for Liverpool, prompting jubilant scenes from the home dugout – and disgust from the Newcastle one, with both benches involved in a brief fracas after the goal.

Alexander Isak had fired Eddie Howe’s side into a 1-0 lead at the break, before Roberto Firmino equalised in the second half.

According to BBC Sport, Liverpool had 72 percent possession and 23 shots compared to the visitors’ five.

But Guimaraes, a £43 million signing by the St James’s Park club in January [ESPN], believes on Twitter that the Anfield outfit were not good value for their three points.

On Wednesday, Sky Sports journalist Melissa Reddy revealed via The Anfield Wrap podcast that the Brazil international – left out of the squad last night due to injury – is a player who LIverpool would love to have on Merseyside, such has been his transition to life in the Premier League following his transfer to Newcastle earlier in 2022.

However, the former Lyon midfielder is obviously unavailable but Klopp still needs additional midfielders before the deadline today.

They have hammered Bournemouth and sneaked past Newcastle in their past two Premier League outings, but there’s clearly still some deficiencies with the German manager’s squad, largely due to injuries to midfield options, and it needs to be rectified as soon as possible.
