Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has said that Patrick Bamford will not play against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on New Year’s Eve, as relayed by BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone on Twitter.
Marsch has said that Bamford will not be back in training until after the match between Newcastle and Leeds on Saturday.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle will host Leeds at St. James’ Park in the Premier League at 3pm UK time on Saturday.
England international striker Bamford is yet to return to training following groin surgery this month.

Need for a new striker
In our opinion, Leeds United need to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
Bamford has really struggled with injury this season, and we may not see the England international striker at his best for a while.
You have to give time to the 29-year-old to get to match fitness after he returns to training.
And then we have to allow him time to get into the rhythm of things and get back to his best.
It is not going to happen overnight.
We think that Leeds have to sign an established number nine in the January transfer window who can hit the ground running at Elland Road and score eight to 10 goals in the Premier League in the second half of the season.
