Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed to Sky Sports that Everton defender Yerry Mina won’t be able to feature against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday.
Mina started in the heart of Everton’s defence against Brighton & Hove Albion last night, but could not complete the game.
And there are now fears that the £27 million man (BBC Sport) could be set for a spell on the sidelines, ahead of Everton’s game against Tottenham on Friday.
That would be a major blow for the Toffees, who are in desperate need of a win against Jose Mourinho’s side.
Everton and Tottenham both harbour ambitions of breaking into the top four, but both need to find some strong form between now and the end of the season to do so.
And Everton’s task of picking up the three points looks significantly more difficult, with their injury problems mounting up.
“At least two weeks or three weeks. But I’m not a doctor. He will not be available for Friday,” he said, when asked about Mina’s availability.
Everton were already forced to name a very youthful bench last night, and it could be that more prospects are in the squad against Tottenham.
Spurs, on the other hand, have an almost clean bill of health – but even with most their options available, Mourinho’s side have still struggled for form of late.
