Cardiff City manager Mick McCarthy insists he has no concerns about losing Kieffer Moore to Premier League outfit Wolves in the final week of the transfer window, speaking to Wales Online.

Bluebirds fans must have known this day was coming.

After scoring a career-best 20 goals during his debut season in South Wales and making one heck of an impression at Euro 2020, it’s a surprise it has taken until now for Moore to emerge as a target for top-flight clubs in need of a centre-forward.

Despite all their enterprising, forward-thinking football, Wolverhampton Wanderers have failed to find the net during the first two games of the Bruno Lage era, drawing a blank again in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

And, according to The Express, Wolves could turn to Moore in an attempt to add some bite up top.

Is Kieffer Moore the man Wolves need?

Standing at 6ft 5in and with more battle scars than Jon Snow’s shield, the giant Welshman, frequently bloodied and bandaged, would certainly give the men from Molineux a presence in the penalty area.

But McCarthy, in typically straight-talking fashion, batted away any rumours about Moore’s future when the topic was broached following the 3-1 weekend win over Millwall.

“No,” said the former Wolves boss when asked if he was concerned Moore could go.

“I don’t worry about things I can’t do anything about. If somebody comes in with a huge sum of money, I’m sure the club would consider it.

“I hope that’s not the case. But I’m not going to sit here and worry about it. Not at all.”

Reports have suggested Wolves would be willing to pay £7 million for Moore. It seems unlikely Cardiff would accept such a fee, though, given the importance the striker has to the promotion-seeking side.

In a further twist, the potential arrival of Moore might coincide with the departure of Wolves’ most prolific creator of chances...
