Kasper Schmeichel has admitted that he hadn’t studied Mo Salah’s penalties prior to saving his spot-kick during Leicester’s 1-0 win over Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

The Denmark international told Amazon Prime Sport that he ‘had a feeling’ and then just ‘went with it’, as Salah also saw his headed rebound hitting the crossbar.

It was a crucial moment in the game because, at the time, Liverpool could have opened the scoring.

But Schmeichel continued to produce inspired performances in between the sticks and prevent Liverpool’s forward line from causing havoc.

This is what the Leicester goalkeeper had to say about saving Salah’s penalty yesterday.

On what was key to his penalty save: “Saving it,” said Schmeichel. “Just saving it.

On whether he had studied Mo Salah: “No, not at all. I had a feeling, then I went with it.

On Salah then following his saved pen with a header: “Then, you are just praying. We haven’t had that kind of luck.”

Aside from Liverpool players, those supporters that have Salah in their Fantasy Football team would have been hugely disappointed that he didn’t earn them those valuable points.

But, then again, he has been unbelievable this season and the Premier League’s highest goalscorer deserves an off-day.

The next stop for Salah is an away trip to Chelsea and trying to ensure this week doesn’t favour the likes of Manchester City even further.

The gap between both Liverpool and the leaders is currently six points, but by Monday morning, it may well be 12, which would be huge in the context of this title race even if Man City have played a game extra.
