Ralph Hasenhüttl has claimed that playing Leeds United is ‘not always nice to watch’, as he told his pre-match press conference.
Leeds will travel to the South Coast on Saturday to take on Southampton, with Hasenhüttl’s side searching for their first three points of the season.
For the away side, they have already put those first three points on the board when they beat Watford before the international break.
That would have no doubt released a lot pressure within the Whites camp and they can now take their gears up a few more levels.
Hasenhüttl shared that he expects a ‘five star dinner’ from Leeds and it’s probably the ‘most intense’ game of the campaign.
On learning from Leeds: “Nothing what you don’t know,” said Hasenhüttl. “It’s maybe one of the most intense games of the season.
“The average of passes opponents play against them is the lowest of the whole league. When you speak about pressing in our shape, they are even more aggressive and do it all 90 minutes round.
“It will be not always nice to watch. But with a lot of mistakes in the game, because of the pressure both teams put on the other side, so we expect five star dinner.
“It’s more about winning duels, winning second balls and coming out of the pressure as quick as possible. Using the space that you get in short moments quite and proper.”
The big test for Leeds this season is that opposition teams are now getting used to their gung-ho ways.
Perhaps only Liverpool and Manchester City play with a higher intensity than Leeds, which is a credit to Marcelo Bielsa and how he eeks out every bit of quality from his team.
But, without the ball, Southampton are also very aggressive in their press, they like to pick those pockets and they have midfielders who are box-to-box.
To the relief of Leeds, there will be more pressure on the Saints because they are looking for that first win, which makes Bielsa’s side even more dangerous for the weekend.
