Everton striker Moise Kean is a ‘great player’ but will not be on his way to Roma this summer, Giallorossi sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has told Sky Italia.
A year ago, a teenage forward was on his way to Goodison Park in what looked like one of the most inspired deals of the summer – even if he did set the Toffees back a hefty £27 million.
Kean had played a major role as Juventus sealed yet another Serie A title in 2018/19 after all, forcing his way into Max Allegri’s star-studded stirkeforce while becoming the youngest player to find the net for the Italian national team in six decades.
But it’s fair to say a man once tipped to emulate Romelu Lukaku at Merseyside has endured a Toffees career more akin to that of Denis Stracqualursi.
Kean has scored just once in 26 games so far, while making headlines for all the wrong reasons thanks to a series of disciplinary problems.
Speculation has suggested that the 20-year-old could be heading back to Italy but, according to Petrachi, Roma will not be his destination.

“I have never dealt with Kean, he’s a great player but not a target of ours,” he says.
Carlo Ancelotti has put his faith in the Richarlison-Dominic Calvert-Lewin partnership since replacing Marco Silva at Goodison Park, handing Kean just three Premier League starts thus far.
But, speaking to Radio Radio today, Ancelotti did not sound like a man who is ready to give up on a player who’s reputation often precedes him for all the wrong reasons.
“I think Moise Kean has so many qualities. He is a great talent,” The Toffees boss explains.
