Thierry Henry has stated that he expected Arsenal transfer target Raheem Sterling to score more goals for Chelsea following his transfer from Manchester City.

The Arsenal legend, prior to Chelsa’s Champions League progression on Tuesday night, stated that he expected Sterling to ‘be the difference’ against Dortmund and that proved to be the case.

Sterling opened the scoring against the German side. It was his seventh strike in all competitions this season following his big-money transfer from Manchester City in the summer.

When Sterling was at the Etihad, during a period where he also worked under Mikel Arteta, he would score for fun, but it was for a very dominant side and already free-scoring side.

That hasn’t followed him to Stamford Bridge, and prior to Chelsea’s win over Dortmund in the Champions League, Henry made some interesting comments about the player, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (07/03/23 at 7:50 pm).

“You would like to think he (Sterling) is going to be the guy to make the difference (against Dortmund),” said Henry.

“He is on six goals. He won the league and we all know he hasn’t yet lifted the Champions League.

“I remember the time he was scoring a lot of goals. He has an eye for a pass. Also, he has been good in games, without scoring goals.

“It’s not a lot. Six goals when you think about it. It’s not a lot, at all, for a team like Chelsea.”

ARTETA TO SIGN ANOTHER EX-MAN CITY PLAYER?

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus were snapped up by Arteta in the summer and the duo have already made a huge difference to the title-chasing side.

There are now talks that another Arteta student could join them at the Emirates, but this time via Chelsea rather than the Etihad.

With Chelsea spending a serious amount of money over two transfer windows, something has to give the other way.

And whilst Sterling was one of their summer and big-name captures, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea allow him to leave if another club puts money on the table for him.
