Jurgen Klopp will have a few selection headaches heading into next season.
Does he trust Ibrahima Konate to now start regularly ahead of Joel Matip? Does Darwin Nunez start immediately over Diogo Jota? Will Fabio Carvalho cement himself as a regular starter? These are all questions that Klopp has to answer.
However, according to Jose Enrique, there’s one position in which Klopp doesn’t have a selection headache, and that’s at left-back.
Indeed, while Kostas Tsimikas has performed well almost every single time he’s played for Liverpool, Enrique states that the Greek isn’t even close to Andy Robertson, claiming that there’s no selection headache for Klopp to consider here.
Enrique believes that there is no comparison to be made between Tsimikas and Robertson, and, in our view, he’s right.
Enrique knows what it takes to be a quality left-back having been a great servant for both Liverpool and Newcastle during his playing career, but even he would admit that Robertson is simply another level.
The Scot is genuinely one of the best left-backs on the planet, and while Tsimikas would be a star for most teams in the Premier League, Robertson would get into any side on the planet.
His defensive ability, his tireless running, his creativity and his speed make him the complete full-back, and whenever he’s fit, he’s got to be one of the first names on the Liverpool teamsheet.
