Jose Mourinho has acknowledged that Dele Alli is ‘not a happy player’ at Tottenham Hotspur right now following his latest snub.
Spurs rounded off their Europa League campaign with a simple 2-0 win over Royal Antwerp in North London last night.
As usual in this competition, Mourinho started with many of his fringe players but named Alli – who’s managed just 67 minutes of Premier League football this season – on the bench.
At one point in the second half, the 24-year-old disappeared down the tunnel after Mourinho used his fifth and final substitution, but retuned a short time later.
And the Portuguese coach has admitted that the England international is more than likely annoyed at his situation – but said he wouldn’t expect anything less.
He told Football London: “A player that is on the bench and then realises that he’s not one of the five players [coming on] of course is not a happy player and I wouldn’t expect him to be happy.”
With January on the horizon, it seems distinctly possible that Alli will be leaving Tottenham.
The fact that he didn’t make it off the bench last night when Mourinho had five substitutions is a bit ridiculous and it’s pretty clear what the Lilywhites boss thinks of him.
Whether it’s a loan or a permanent move, Alli absolutely needs to leave North London and try to rebuild his career elsewhere.
