Stewart Robson has changed his mind about Arsenal’s summer signing, Gabriel Jesus, and how he has ‘hit the ground running’ in pre-season, as he told ESPN.
The former Highbury star admitted that he initially felt that Jesus ‘wasn’t a great signing’ and he didn’t think he would score many goals ahead of the new Premier League season, but he has not changed his mind.
After watching the 25-year-old in pre-season, where he scored an impressive seven goals from five matches, including a hat-trick during their 6-0 thumping of Sevilla, it has got the player noticed.

Now, at the end of the day, pre-season is pre-season and it’s something that shouldn’t be looked into too much because all that matters is what happens at Selhurst Park on Friday night.
But, for Arsenal-mad pundit Robson, the club’s new centre-forward has already done enough to change his mind ahead of their Premier League opener.
“Just before he went to Arsenal, I thought it wouldn’t be very many (goals he would score),” said Robson. “I think it wasn’t a great signing.
“We talked last year that he was a better right winger, then he was a centre-forward. He’s never been a centre-forward, he said when he couldn’t get into the team.
“But having seen him play for Arsenal in pre-season, it looks as though he has hit the ground running, the other players enjoy playing with him and he’s making run after run.
“It looks like he is full of confidence, so I am going to go for Jesus scoring 18 goals in all competitions for Arsenal.”

JESUS TO SCORE 15+ GOALS NEXT SEASON?
Well, former Arsenal man Robson is backing the player to hit those numbers, but in all comps, with the Gunners making a return to the Europa League.
Given the nature of teams in the Europa League, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Jesus isn’t playing in the early stages of the competition because the quality is pretty low.
That’s when someone like Eddie Nketiah, who signed a new contract this summer, will probably get his chance to shine.
Whilst Bukayo Saka hit an impressive 11 Premier League goals last season, both Jesus and Nketiah are the ones who will have to burden most of the responsibility for goals ahead of the new campaign.
