Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has spoken out about the five substitute rule not being discussed in the Premier League’s meeting on Thursday.
Club’s had a chance to discuss any ongoing issues in the meeting on Thursday, but despite the substitutes issue being a big talking point in recent weeks, it’s been reported that not a single club raised the matter.
As you can imagine, Klopp wasn’t best pleased when he found out about this.
“Not surprised because I knew about it. No-one thought it would go through. That it didn’t happen since the managers meeting shows that CEOs see it differently to their managers. That’s not a good sign,” Klopp said.
“This isn’t about Liverpool. In this moment I don’t have 5 players to change. It’s about all the players and load management, not to get an advantage. I can’t say that often enough,” Klopp continued.

Klopp is spot on here.
Plenty of managers have spoken out about the current substitutes issue, but not a single person present at the meeting on Thursday thought it was worth discussing, and that’s rather worrying.
Everyone knows that this issue is a pressing matter at the moment, but the people in charge of making the decisions decided to completely ignore the conversation that is happening on almost a weekly basis.
We find it hard to believe that nobody at that meeting was aware of Klopp’s recent protests, so why was it not at least spoken about?
Unfortunately, it seems as though Klopp is right, the CEOs see things differently than the managers.
