Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal and Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with ‘The Ukrainian Neymar’ in recent weeks, and the winger himself has been very open about the fact he’s open to joining the Gunners.

However, while Arsenal are interested and Mudryk wants the move, this transfer hasn’t gone ahead yet, and according to Romano, that’s because the Gunners aren’t completely convinced that he’s worth the asking price Shakhtar Donetsk slapped on his head this summer.

Arsenal unconvinced by Mudryk

Romano shared what he knows about the Gunners and this winger.

“A player that they wanted this summer, but they were not 100 per cent convinced about spending big money on him was Mudryk from Shakhtar. A fantastic talent we follow him in the Champions League of course and we know how special this boy is, but when Everton made an official bid and Shakhtar said they wanted more than €50m, Arsenal decided to wait and to go for a different plan, but Mudryk is a player Arsenal like,” Romano said.

Only going to go up

Shakhtar wanted massive money for Mudryk this summer because they know just how talented this young man is, but sadly for any interested parties, his asking price may only be going in one direction – up.

Indeed, with two goals in two Champions League games this season, Mudryk is making a real splash within Europe, and as his reputation grows, so does his stock.

As recent years have shown, transfer values can be nonsensical at times, and while it does seem ridiculous to pay £45m for a footballer who has only played 40 league games in his career, with his potential and Champions League performances, it won’t be long until somebody pays something close to that fee or even an higher amount.

Arsenal may actually have missed their chance to sign Mudryk now as his Champions League performances may have increased his price even further.
