Norwich City midfielder Robbie Brady was taken off in a head brace during Ireland’s World Cup qualifying victory.
Republic of Ireland’s Robbie Brady goes down after sustaining an injury
Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 triumph over Georgia was overshadowed last night by the injury to midfielder Robbie Brady. The 24-year-old was knocked unconscious following a nasty collision in the second half, with paramedics surrounding him and extensive treatment being required on the pitch.
Georgia’s Saba Kvirkvelia was the other player involved in the 76th minute, and the Georgian was left with blood pouring from his head. The good news soon came that Brady had regained consciousness and was able to talk by the time the final whistle had blew, as the Irish FA updated worried fans on Twitter who had been sending in tweets of support in their hundreds.
The unfortunate injury comes less than a week after Brady really kick-started his season with a beautiful 25-yard goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He will now miss the trip to Moldova with Norwich fans holding their breath as to how long the injury will keep him out for and whether or not he will be fit in time for their game against Rotherham.
