Norwich City goalkeeper Michael McGovern has insisted that he is not taking his chance in the Canaries’ first team for granted, as reported by Norwich Evening News.
Norwich were fully intending on John Ruddy carrying the club forward as their number one his season, but his early-season injury against Sheffield Wednesday opened the door for McGovern to stake his claim for the position.
Over the last few weeks the Northern Irishman has put in some impressive performances, leaving manager Neil with a potential selection headache in the near future.

The 32-year-old international has been off on international duty over the last few weeks, but he is ready to get back to club action as Norwich continue their push for promotion.
McGgovern said, via Norwich Evening News: “I think it would be foolish for me to think I am the number one with the competition here. The level is really high.
“We have some top keepers and John has been here for a number of years and done ever so well. I don’t think I could take that for granted but I am in a nice position in the sense I am playing regularly.

“That is where I want to be. It is up to me to show what I can do and play in a winning team. Everyone makes mistakes but as a keeper you try to limit them.
“It is in my hands. I am in possession of the jersey and it is very simple. I have to keep my standards high so I am under no illusions.”
Whether or not Ruddy returns to the starting XI is a vital decision for Alex Neil to make, as the chopping and changing of the goalkeeper position could provide some unrest for the remainder of the squad.
Either way, with such an important run of fixtures coming up it seems as if the decision will be made sooner rather than later.
