Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has said he will wait for his moment in terms of returning to the first team for the club.

The competition for places is as fierce as ever at Carrow Road, with Norwich City starting the season like a house on fire.

The depth in their squad is evident and it is understandable that quality players are bound to be left out of the starting XI, especially when it comes to being the club’s number one. As reported by Eastern Daily Press, John Ruddy has said that he will wait for his moment in terms of returning to the first team in place of current starter Michael McGovern.

The 29-year-old has not featured in the league for Norwich since their first home game of the season, during which he sustained an injury that opened the door for McGovern to stake his claim in the starting line-up.

“If I’m honest, it doesn’t feel like I’ve had a season,” said Ruddy, who played in Norwich’s EFL Cup against Everton. “Getting injured in only the second game was incredibly frustrating, as it’s hard not being involved.

“I was really happy with the Everton game, but Michael has been playing well too, five wins out of six speaks for itself.

“However, I’m feeling sharp, feeling strong and just want to get back playing as much as I can.

“It is always frustrating watching from the bench – every footballer wants to be starting games and I’m no different. However, I am ready for the next game I am called on for.”

Ruddy has made over 200 appearances for the Norfolk based club since joining from Everton back in 2010, and in that time he has also earned a solo cap for England. Unfortunately it is likely he will be watching from the sidelines when the Canaries return to Championship action against Rotherham United this weekend.
