As Norwich City attempt to get their promotion push back on track, it’s time to look at their history in the East Anglian derby with Ipswich Town.
The rivalry between Norwich City and Ipswich Town is a fierce one, and can be considered one of the more underrated derbies in the country. There is a burning hatred between the two sides as you would expect, but in recent times it is Norwich City that have come out on top more often than not.
The Canaries are unbeaten in the last seven games between the rivals, with Ipswich not taking home the spoils for seven years now. The run has proven to be costly too, with Norwich now just a win or two away from overtaking The Tractor Boys as the most successful team in the East Anglian Derby.
Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy
It really is quite the achievement given what a strong history Ipswich have, especially during their days under Sir Bobby Robson. Both teams seemingly have very different realistic objectives for the season ahead, but the 1-1 draw in August proved that form goes out the window when it comes to the derby.
With a lot on the line, their next meeting in the Championship will be as vital as ever for both sets of supporters in the East.
